There are legendary metal drummers, and then there’s Gene Hoglan<\/strong>. What more can be said about someone who set the standard for thrash and death metal drumming? From his early years in the legendary Los Angeles thrash metal band Dark Angel<\/strong>, to his classic albums Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic with the one and only Death<\/strong>. He also has worked with progressive guru Devin Townsend<\/strong> in solo albums, and with Strapping Young Lad<\/strong>. You may also recognize his work from Metalocalypse<\/strong> and the animated band Dekthlok<\/strong>, as well as Old Man’s Child<\/strong>, Forbidden<\/strong>, and the list goes on. You may recently Gene for drumming with the legendary bay area thrash metal band Testament<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We are excited to announce Gene Hoglan<\/strong> will be playing some of his classics, talking about his career as a metal drummer and answering some of your questions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I’m really excited to be a part of this year’s San Diego Metal Swap Meet<\/strong>. I’m planning an amazing show, where I’ll be covering material from throughout my career, plus there will be a number of surprises lined up as well.
